Long ago, our ancestors discovered that if you boiled linseed oil, the quality increased enormously. However, this process was a difficult process that often went wrong due to insufficient knowledge. Over the years, less and less linseed oil was actually boiled, but mainly raw linseed oil was used that was provided with (chemical) drying agents to obtain a drying oil easily and cheaply. We now know such raw products under the name "boiled linseed oil". Although boiled linseed oil is cheap, it makes the wood darker, yellows quickly, smells unpleasant, only dries thanks to the additives and actually produces a very poor oil film.
